Military Optics and Optical Engineering - History of Reynard Corporation

Reynard Corporation was established in 1984 by Forrest Reynard with the goal of supplying advanced optical solutions to a global customer base. With our internal world wide sales team, our domestic government sales team, and our international representatives we continuously expand upon these horizons.

Our premier engineering staff is experienced in the design of optical coating technology and in the manufacturing techniques that produce repeatable and dependable products.

Our 4,000 sq. ft. thin film coating lab is entirely within a Class 1000 clean room allowing us to achieve the stringent performance requirements required by many of our customers.

Reynard Corporation remains in the forefront as a quality manufacturer of optical components. We pledge to continue our quest for excellence and benchmark for quality that has enabled us to become a leader in our industry.

CUSTOM THIN FILM COATINGS Reynard Corporation is regarded as one of the world?s leading production facilities for the design and manufacturing of thin film optical components.

Our capabilities are endless with our state of the art design software and custom design tools. With over 30 years of continued custom design experience and over 1,000 pre-existing designs available, we are able to meet the coatings requirements of today?s stringent specifications.

We have the capability to cost match a job to one of our 21 coating chambers. This cost savings is ultimately passed along to our customers. Our smallest 18? bell jar chambers are ideal for small, single run orders or for R & D. Our larger 54? box coaters can be used for volume production or for the coating of very large optics.

AEROSPACE, DEFENSE & MILITARY OPTICS Reynard Corporation has all the facilities necessary to design, fabricate and qualify state of the art coatings for aerospace, defense and military applications. Our precision optics are found in high performance systems that operate under extreme conditions.

We pride ourselves on being a leading producer of made-to-print optical components. Our facility includes environmental testing equipment and state-of-the-art quality inspection equipment to measure against the most stringent MIL spec standards. We offer our customers support, solutions and top quality products.

Our experience with ultra violet, visible, infrared and broad spectrum high resolution optics will be applied to your specifications to help meet defense challenges.

Reynard Corporation was selected on various programs and SBIR?s due to our experience, manufacturing expertise and our stringent Quality Control Department.

Aerospace, defense and military companies have put their trust in Reynard Corporation knowing that they will get their demanding specifications met.

PHOTOLITHOGRAPHY Reynard Corporation can pattern most coatings using standard photo resist technology with geometries as fine as 5.0 microns on glass, plastics and ceramics.

Application Examples:

? Calibration grids

? Cross Hair Targets

? IR Resolution Targets

? Optical slits and pinholes

? Reticles

? Scene Transparencies

Optical & Mechanical Fabrication Reynard Corporation has an in-house Fabrication Department which allows us to track and monitor your job from beginning to end. Our optical and mechanical fabrication equipment enables us to produce a wide range of optical components.

? 48" & 96? Continuous Polishing Laps

? CNC Machines

? Edger?s

? Continuous Grinders

? Spindle Polishers

? Dicing Saws

? Band saws

? Mills

Our large continuous polishers are ideal for polishing massive optical elements or large quantities of smaller optics. Our CNC mills allow us to shape nearly any part to our customer?s specification in prototype to large production quantities. Our Opticians have vast experience in fabricating precision optical components from many different types of glass, ceramics, plastics and metals. We are able to polish mirrors and windows to a 1/20 wave and fabricate substrates with thicknesses down to 100 microns.

Research & Development Research and Development of optical materials and processes have been at the center of Reynard Corporation?s success since our inception. We continue to be innovators in the advancement of thin film coatings through internal R & D, SBIR programs, commercial development projects and research partnerships.

Engineering Design Services The Reynard Corporation Engineering team knows that optics rarely operate as stand-alone products. As a development partner, we work closely with our customers to offer engineering design services that include optical, mechanical, and electrical solutions. Some of our designs include optical housing, motion controllers, passive and active mounts, software interfaces, and a rich history of custom and proprietary solutions. Since some optics can be delicate to handle, we also offer the services to mount and assemble products. Allow us to assist you in your engineering design requirements.
